  • Avoid fermenting foods at the same time or in the same room of the house, as the bacteria will mess with each other

  • Reuse glass jars (from honey, nut butter) so you don't have to buy new mason jars

  • Cheesecloth is super useful for keeping fruit flies out and allowing air circulation -- wash it in hot soapy water to reuse

  • Keep track of fermentation start date with labels; write notes comparing flavour, ingredients, & duration for each batch so you can figure out what you like!
